I have a couple bad pictures of the renderings of the two concepts:
Parking Ramp Rendering - proposed adding stories to the parking ramp for housing.
And the 200 E Mifflin Rendering - proposed tearing down all the houses on the 200 block of E. Mifflin, with perhaps houses on Webster and N Butler as well.
With the parking ramp proposal, its hard to know exactly what it proposed, as this is the second rendering provided, but at least one previous proposal from another developer included demolishing three houses on N Hamilton and I don't recall if there were any more.
With the 200 N Mifflin project, the rendering appears to require the following demolitions:

For those of you interested, the grand daddy . . . the Frank Lloyd Wright Lamp House . . .22 N Butler which is not proposed for demolition, but instead would be viewed from the cut out in the building.
I couldn't really take a picture that would do the house justice. Check the link above. Or a more recent/more accurate picture here on flickr.

So, we should learn more tonight. And then create a steering committee to work with Apex. The neighborhood started a website/blog, which will likely be updated as the project progresses.

Nice try Brenda! You are full of it and that's why you lost your election. The fact these homes are owned by Joe Schmoe ain't going to make them either historic nor worth preserving.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, if you want to prevent this development allow me to lease the space in any of these homes and set up a bar and restaurant or a grocery store or a specialty retail store. This entire block is zoned commercial C2 which the idiots at Apex and the city never highlighted. They just want to turn this into a residential district to perpetuity which should be opposed.
You lived down the block and never gave hill of beans about the Lamp House. You lost your election and now you want your job back and this is your forum. Lie about local small landlords who are trying to make it. You would rather see some out of town developer reap the benefits.
Your reasoning is BS and you know it. One more thing the neighborhood, the landmarks, urban design and the PLAN COMMISSION are all advisory. Remember to respect other peoples property so that they can respect yours.
Wish the best with alderman's campaign!
Oh, yes, that would be brilliant electoral strategy. Especially since 2/3 of the people concerned about the project live in Verveer's district and another 10 - 15% are in Rummel's district. Yawn. We're you drunk when you wrote this?
ReplyDeleteI may disagree with Brenda at times(often probably) but your quote below made me disregard everything else you said Jay because it shows you must know little about her views or m.o.
